en.Wedoany.com Reported - UK specialist contractor RED Group has secured contracts for two office development projects valued at over £42 million, with its South West division responsible for delivering both schemes.
Commissioned by BlackRock and development management company LS Estates, the first Grade A office redevelopment project is located at Portwall Place in Bristol. The seven-story building offers 150,000 square feet of office space and is designed by Buckley Grey Yeoman (BGY) Architects. The building features a café, gym, co-working space, and Bristol's largest rooftop terrace, overlooking the city center, Brunel Mile, St Mary Redcliffe, Floating Harbour, and Mendip Hills.
The construction team will carry out external repairs to the building facade and build over 7,500 square feet of terrace space, improving ecology through green roof areas. Targeting EPC A, BREEAM Excellent, and Nabers 4.5, Portwall Place is designed as an all-electric building with an estimated 75% embodied carbon savings. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.
The second project, located at Pinesgate West in Bath, is an £8 million office refurbishment situated on the River Avon, which will become the new headquarters of engineering consultancy Buro Happold. Commissioned by WPV Developments and designed by AWW Architects, the RED South West division aims for BREEAM Excellent and EPC A ratings. Demolishing the existing facade and replacing it with a new envelope will improve the building's aesthetics, creating a striking gateway to Bath while reducing energy consumption by minimizing solar heat gain. Operational energy reduction is further enhanced by the introduction of photovoltaic panels, along with electric vehicle charging points, bicycle storage, and an external terrace, increasing the scheme's appeal to future occupants.
This project marks a continuation of the collaboration between RED's South West division and AWW, which will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2025. The two Bristol-based firms previously worked together on the Hollis Wharf project—a £13 million, 45,000-square-foot mixed-use development in Bath—and a £15 million health center in Weston-super-Mare.

These appointments were announced after RED's South West division reported completing projects totaling over £65 million, with the most recent being the £15 million Millstream development, the final part of the Chocolate Quarter Retirement Village. Following the successful delivery of the Chocolate Quarter Retirement Village, St Monica Trust has now appointed the South West division as its construction partner to build The Hub—a vibrant new social facility at the center of the retirement village on Cote Lane in Bristol.
