Starting in June, Hino will also equip all 300 Series hybrid electric models with the Hino-Connect business intelligence and telematics system as standard.
Since its launch in 2021, the Tipper Pro diesel model has become the most popular tipper in Hino Australia's Built to Go range. Hino predicts that the hybrid electric version will continue this market momentum. Daniel Petrovski, Product Strategy Manager at Hino Australia, stated that the model features a proven Kyokuto Kaihatsu tipper body and a hybrid electric powertrain with no range or charging limitations, offering a high-quality, cost-effective, and versatile ready-to-use solution that reduces business costs from day one of operation.
The Tipper Pro body is specifically developed for the unique needs of Australian operators, featuring a three-way "barn door" tailgate, body lock, and rope guides. Petrovski noted that the model is popular in the trades market, municipal, and road and infrastructure sectors, and the addition of the hybrid electric version will broaden the application scenarios of Hino's hybrid electric series. The new model adopts a Wide Cab design, initially available in 6.5-tonne and 8-tonne Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) specifications. Compared to equivalent diesel trucks, the 300 Series hybrid electric Wide Cab model can reduce fuel costs for customers by up to 24%. Hino has showcased the hybrid electric Built to Go Tipper Pro prototype at the Brisbane Truck Show, and the model is now available for sale at Hino dealerships nationwide.
This hybrid electric model complies with Euro 6 emission standards and is powered by a Hino N04C-WR four-cylinder common-rail turbocharged diesel engine, delivering a maximum output of 150 hp (110 kW) and 470 Nm of torque. When combined with the electric motor, peak torque can be achieved at a very low 1,200 rpm. The six-speed automatic transmission is directly coupled to the electric motor, enabling faster gear shifts and smoother starts. All Hino 300 Series light-duty trucks are equipped with the Hino SmartSafe safety package, including a pre-collision system with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, lane departure warning system, vehicle stability control, reverse camera, dual SRS airbags, four-wheel disc brakes (meeting UN ECE R29 cab strength certification), and hill-start assist.
Starting in June, all Hino 300 Series hybrid electric models will come standard with the Hino-Connect system. This is an Australian-designed and manufactured telematics system that provides real-time vehicle and driver performance data, fuel usage reports, maintenance tracking, fleet safety alerts, and dedicated case management services. Hino-Connect is also standard on Hino's heavy-duty 700 Series and medium-duty 500 Series, designed to help customers optimize fleet performance. The system is part of the Hino Advantage business solutions suite, which also includes Hino SmartSafe, capped-price servicing, genuine parts, 24/7 roadside assistance, financing options, and customer care center support. All Hino 300 Series hybrid electric models come with a standard warranty of five years or 250,000 kilometers, whichever comes first.
