Kuwait's KOC Awards L&T $988 Million EPC Contract for Crude Oil Export Facilities

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 20, 2026, local time in Kuwait, Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) formally awarded Larsen & Toubro (L&T) an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract valued at approximately $988 million for the construction of new crude oil export facilities and the upgrade of existing export infrastructure. The total contract amount is 303.504 million Kuwaiti Dinars, representing one of the core projects in Kuwait's strategy to enhance crude oil export capacity and support production growth.

The awarded contract corresponds to the "Jurassic Light Oil (JLO) Export Facilities and Existing Export Network Upgrade Project." Under the contract, L&T will be fully responsible for the engineering design, equipment procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover of new export facilities for Kuwait Export Crude (KEC) and Jurassic crude oil, while also upgrading the existing crude oil export network to improve system operational efficiency, scheduling flexibility, and long-term maintenance performance. The specific scope of work includes the construction of new crude oil storage facilities and supporting export infrastructure, oil pipelines, pumping systems, utility systems, instrumentation, electrical and control systems, as well as the integration and modernization of the existing export network. Upon completion, the project will effectively enhance the reliability and operational efficiency of crude oil export operations.

Reviewing the bidding process, Kuwait Oil Company initiated the tender for this project in October 2025 and received formal bids from two companies. L&T's bid was 303.5 million Kuwaiti Dinars, while Petrofac's bid was 310.5 million Kuwaiti Dinars, making L&T the lowest bidder. The formal award of this contract marks the entry of strategic investment in Kuwait's oil export infrastructure into a substantive implementation phase. Once operational, the project will add storage capacity for Kuwait Export Crude and Jurassic crude oil, enhancing the resilience and overall efficiency of the export system.
