Biochemical company Bachem to invest over 500 million Swiss francs in building a plant in Switzerland

Under the agreement, Bachem will invest more than 500 million Swiss francs in a greenfield project in Sisslerfeld, Switzerland. This strategic partnership includes advance payments for investment costs and long-term commitments, with the new plant expected to begin production in 2030. The parties to the agreement have agreed not to disclose further details.

Anne-Kathrin Stoller, CEO of Bachem, stated that demand for peptides as active pharmaceutical ingredients remains high, and long-term supply agreements are crucial for ensuring supply security for customers and patients, while also supporting targeted capacity expansion. She added that the agreement provides Bachem with planning certainty beyond 2030, helping to responsibly coordinate investments across the entire production network, including Sisslerfeld.

Bachem is currently implementing a network-wide capacity expansion plan, which includes facilities for large-scale production of peptides and oligonucleotides, to strengthen its position as a global leading partner in the TIDES field. The company operates a global network of production sites, including Bubendorf (Switzerland), Sisslerfeld (Switzerland), Vionnaz (Switzerland), Vista (USA), Torrance (USA), and St. Helens (UK).
