The tender is for 12 MW/48 MWh, comprising 12 units, each with a capacity of 1 MW/4 MWh. The bid submission deadline is August 12, 2026.

To develop this project, Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RUVITL) will sign a Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement (BESPA) with the selected developer on behalf of the respective distribution companies to provide storage facilities. The electricity generated from the project will be supplied on an "on-demand" basis, aimed at helping to alleviate power demand during the evening peak hours (preferably 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM) and morning peak hours (preferably 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM), or as required by JVVNL.

The minimum project capacity for this tender is 1 MW/4 MWh. Bidders must quote for the full capacity at the selected location within a specific substation, and partial capacity bids are not permitted. The BESS will be configured for a 4-hour discharge duration and must be capable of at least one and up to two charge-discharge cycles per day, as required by various 33/11 kV substations of JVVNL, while meeting relevant performance requirements and technical standards. The Battery Energy Storage System Developer (BESSD) may limit the system to a minimum depth of discharge (DoD) of 90% to maintain a safety reserve buffer and prevent battery damage.

During the commissioning and testing phase, each distribution company will provide the BESSD with the first 72 hours of charging energy free of charge before the commercial operation date (COD). JVVNL will schedule charging during off-peak hours after considering the BESSD's request, provided that the request is submitted one day in advance. Forecasting, scheduling, and other related activities are managed by the respective distribution companies, and the BESSD is not responsible for these activities. Furthermore, during the 15-year contract period, with a minimum of 6,300 BESS operating cycles (equivalent to 420 cycles per year), each distribution company will provide charging energy to the BESSD free of charge, subject to applicable penalty provisions.
