en.Wedoany.com Reported - Sinomine Resource Group Co., Ltd. and Peru's Jinda Mining Co., Ltd. recently signed a cooperation agreement for the La Jaya copper mine project in Peru, marking the entry of their strategic partnership into a substantive operational phase. This move signifies Sinomine's official foray into the South American mineral development market.
Under the agreement, Jinda Mining will transfer all mining rights of the La Jaya copper mine to a newly established joint venture, in which Sinomine holds a controlling stake. Leveraging its local operational advantages, Jinda Mining will handle community engagement and compliance with local regulations, while Sinomine will provide exploration funding, geological survey expertise, and global integrated supply chain resources. The complementary strengths of both parties aim to promote standardized and sustainable development of copper resources, balancing operational efficiency with long-term strategic planning.
The project will be implemented in phases. The current phase focuses on initial exploration to systematically assess the reserves and occurrence patterns of breccia pipe-type copper resources in the mining area. Simultaneously, a standardized exploration plan will be developed, and field drilling operations will commence to fully understand the resource base, providing geological foundations for subsequent development planning.
As Sinomine's flagship project in the South American market, the La Jaya copper mine carries the mission of enhancing the company's global resource portfolio. Wang Pingwei, Chairman and President of Sinomine, stated at the signing ceremony that the project will be developed as a "pilot zone" for the company's expansion in Peru and across South America. By leveraging this project, the company aims to thoroughly understand local policies and regulations across the entire value chain, including mineral investment, ecological and environmental protection, and land and community affairs, accumulating practical overseas operational experience to lay a foundation for further expansion into high-quality mineral projects in South America.
In recent years, Sinomine has been advancing its global mineral layout, building resource bases both domestically and internationally in key strategic minerals such as lithium, cesium, germanium, and copper. This collaboration with a local Peruvian enterprise to develop the La Jaya copper mine represents a significant step in broadening the company's copper resource supply channels and extending its non-ferrous metals industry chain. It also provides a replicable practical model for Chinese mining companies to prudently engage in cross-border resource cooperation in South America.
