Wedoany.com Report-Jun 1, Boron One has completed an independent environmental impact assessment (EIA) for its Piskanja Boron Project, located approximately 250 kilometers south of Belgrade, Serbia. The assessment marks a key step in the company’s preparation for securing exploitation field approval, a critical requirement in the Serbian mining regulatory process.

The Piskanja project is estimated to hold a measured mineral resource of 1.39mt with an average of 35.59% boron trioxide.

The company submitted its application for exploitation field approval to the Serbian Ministry of Mining in July 2024. The application package includes a feasibility study that meets Serbian standards, a summary of the EIA, a Certificate of Reserves for the Piskanja deposit, and permits from relevant Serbian government ministries. All documentation has been prepared in accordance with the country's mining legislation.

If approved, the exploitation field license will grant Boron One exclusive rights to develop the Piskanja mineral deposit. Upon receiving the approval, the company plans to submit detailed designs for the mine and processing facilities for final approval. This would be the final stage before construction begins.

Tim Daniels, President of Boron One, commented: “We are delighted to have reached this important milestone. This study is an essential road map, guaranteeing that the development of Piskanja is carried out responsibly, with a strong commitment to environmental sustainability and minimal ecological disruption.”

The Piskanja project is estimated to contain a measured mineral resource of 1.39 million tonnes with an average grade of 35.59% boron trioxide (B₂O₃). It also includes an indicated mineral resource of 5.48 million tonnes at 34.05% B₂O₃ and an inferred mineral resource of 284,700 tonnes at 39.59% B₂O₃. These estimates follow the Canadian Institute of Mining Definition Standards on Mineral Resources and Reserves.

In a related development earlier this month, Boron One announced that its Serbian subsidiary, Balkan Gold, signed a letter of intent with Resavica, a state-owned Serbian mining company. The agreement outlines potential collaboration for refurbishing the Pobrdje Colemanite Mine, while continuing development of the Piskanja project.

These steps reflect Boron One’s ongoing efforts to advance its boron operations in Serbia while aligning with national regulatory and environmental requirements. The company aims to move forward with responsible development practices and long-term collaboration within the region.
