TotalEnergies secured 900,000 barrels from the Atapu field (Batch 1), expected to be loaded in September 2026, while ExxonMobil won 1 million barrels from the Bacalhau field (Batch 2), expected to be loaded in October 2026.

Batch 3, also involving 1 million barrels from the Bacalhau field with loading expected in November or December 2026, failed to attract a bid, and PPSA will reorganize the transaction at an appropriate time. The spot auction's bids were referenced to Brent dated, with prices announced 15 days after cargo loading. The bidding process was conducted transparently in real time through an online meeting attended by company representatives.

In addition to TotalEnergies and ExxonMobil, other companies participating in the bidding included CNOOC, Equinor, Galp, Petrobrás, and Petrochina. PPSA President Luis Fernando Paroli confirmed that the federal government's first natural gas auction is expected to take place in the final two months of 2026, possibly in November.

The natural gas auction is planned to feature two models. The first is a short-term auction with delivery between 2027 and 2030, aimed primarily at free customers in the basic industrial sector; the second targets long-term commercialization, starting in 2030, for new projects or capacity expansions of companies in the aforementioned sector.
