Wedoany.com Report-Jun 2, The Governor’s Office of Musandam, Oman, has entered into contracts with local firms to develop infrastructure and beautification projects across 15 coastal villages in Khasab and Dibba. These initiatives focus on sustainable development to improve residents’ quality of life and foster community engagement, aligning with Oman Vision 2040’s objectives for balanced regional growth.

The move aligns with the country’s Vision 2040 goals.

The projects include constructing sea walls to protect against tidal surges and flash floods, as well as developing pedestrian walkways, landscaped parks, and seating areas. These enhancements aim to create vibrant public spaces while preserving the natural landscapes and cultural heritage of the villages, which hold potential for eco-tourism and heritage tourism.

“These agreements aim to improve the quality of life for residents and reaffirm the governorate’s commitment to sustainable and inclusive development,” said a representative from the Musandam Governor’s Office. The initiatives are designed to support rural communities, reduce urban migration, and create appealing spaces for both locals and visitors.

In a separate development, construction of Sultan Haitham City near Muscat is advancing swiftly. Spanning 15 million square meters, the project is designed to be a smart, sustainable urban center. Launched two years ago, the first phase covers over half the total area and includes infrastructure, residential zones, educational facilities, and public amenities.

Laila Al-Nassri, city director of developer follow-up, told Anadolu Agency: “Construction work in the city has progressed rapidly since the project’s launch, thanks to the involvement of six developers working on the ground.” The development is primarily led by local companies, with two international firms expected to contribute to future phases.

With an investment of $1.7 billion to date, Sultan Haitham City aims to provide 20,000 residential units for approximately 100,000 residents. The first phase is slated for completion by 2030, with the entire project expected to be finalized by 2045. However, the timeline may be shortened if the current pace of progress is maintained.

These projects reflect Oman’s commitment to sustainable urban and rural development. The Musandam initiatives enhance local infrastructure while promoting tourism, and Sultan Haitham City sets a model for modern, eco-friendly urban planning, supporting long-term economic and social growth.
