South Korea's LG invests additional $910 million in 200MW data center in Paju

en.Wedoany.com Reported - South Korean conglomerate LG will invest an additional 1.3 trillion won (approximately $910 million) in a 200MW data center project in Paju City, located about 19 miles (31 kilometers) north of Seoul. This new investment more than doubles LG's previous commitment of 615.6 billion won (approximately $441.7 million) announced in May 2025.

The data center project covers an area of approximately 73,710 square meters (793,410 square feet), with construction plans dating back to May 2024. At that time, LG announced plans to acquire land and building resources in Paju from its subsidiary LG Display to build the new large-scale data center facility. Upon completion, the project will serve as critical infrastructure for LG to further expand its data center operational capabilities and meet growing data processing demands.

The campus is being developed by LG U+, LG's telecommunications business unit, with construction scheduled for completion in 2027, ultimately capable of supporting the operation of more than 100,000 servers. LG U+ currently operates ten data centers in South Korea, including four colocation data centers in the Seoul area, as well as related facilities in Ayang, Daejeon, Jeonju, Gwangju, Daegu, and Busan. Upon completion of the Paju project, it will further enhance LG U+'s data center scale and operational capabilities.
