Wedoany.com Report-Jun 7, The Mongolian government has launched a tender to select an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor for the Myangad solar project. The initiative, supported by financing from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), is part of Mongolia’s efforts to expand renewable energy capacity.
According to the tender invitation, contractors from ADB-eligible source countries can participate. The Myangad project involves constructing a 19.8 MW solar facility in western Mongolia, adjacent to the existing 10 MW Khovd Nar solar plant. The ADB’s project details indicate that the facility will contribute to the country’s renewable energy goals.
Construction is scheduled for completion by the third quarter of 2026. Upon completion, Western Energy System, the regional transmission and distribution operator, will own and manage the solar plant’s operations.
Interested companies can obtain tender documentation from Mongolia’s Ministry of Energy for a non-refundable fee of $600. The deadline for submitting applications is July 16, 2025.
By the end of 2024, Mongolia’s total solar capacity reached 143 MW, an increase from 108 MW the previous year, as reported by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). The Myangad project aligns with the country’s ongoing commitment to advancing clean energy infrastructure.
