Wedoany.com Report-Jun 3, Premix Group, a global leader in electrically conductive plastics, has opened a new manufacturing facility in Apple Creek, North Carolina. Supported by a $79 million investment from the U.S. Department of Defense and the Department of Health and Human Services, the facility strengthens the domestic supply chain for critical diagnostics and high-performance applications.

Located in Dallas, North Carolina, the plant will produce advanced polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP)-based compounds and concentrates using U.S.-sourced raw materials. These materials, designed for extrusion and injection molding, enable precise liquid level detection and protect against uncontrolled electrostatic discharges. They meet essential requirements for diagnostics, electronics, chemical processing, industrial packaging, and other specialized applications.

Jaakko Aho, CEO of Premix Group, stated: “These materials enable high-precision liquid level sensing in diagnostic testing, and safer handling, transport, and storage by protecting against uncontrolled electrostatic discharges (ESD) — a critical requirement in electronics, industrial packaging, diagnostics, and other high-performance applications. Establishing a manufacturing presence in the United States is about more than production — it’s about building resilient supply chains and trusted partnerships.”

The Apple Creek facility enhances Premix’s ability to serve the U.S. market with locally produced products, offering shorter delivery times and a reduced carbon footprint. It also bolsters supply chain reliability for key industries. The plant marks a significant expansion of Premix’s global operations, building on its legacy as a family-owned company founded in Finland in 1980, recognized for innovation and customer-focused solutions.

This strategic investment supports Premix’s commitment to delivering high-quality, sustainable materials while meeting the growing demand for advanced plastics in critical applications across the United States.
