en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 3, it was learned from Shaanxi Yanchang Petroleum (Group) Co., Ltd. that the proven geological reserves of the Yandong Coalbed Methane Field submitted by the group have recently passed the review and filing by the Ministry of Natural Resources, with reserves reaching 53.7 billion cubic meters, marking another major breakthrough in the exploration and development of deep coalbed methane in the Ordos Basin.

The Yandong Coalbed Methane Field is located in the southeastern part of the Ordos Basin, with two main coal seams developed in the Upper Paleozoic Shanxi Formation and Benxi Formation, buried at depths exceeding 2,000 meters, representing a typical "self-generated and self-stored" deep coalbed methane reservoir. According to expert evaluation, these reserves provide a foundation for building a production capacity of 800 million to 1 billion cubic meters per year.

It is reported that Shaanxi Yanchang Petroleum (Group) Co., Ltd. has reached an annual natural gas production capacity of 15 billion cubic meters, and the group's annual output ranked fourth nationwide in 2025. The newly proven additional reserves mark the group's formal expansion of natural gas exploration from conventional and tight gas to deep coalbed methane.
