en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 5, Business Insider reported that Google is in discussions with U.S. AI startup Mechanize regarding a potential deal valued at over $1.5 billion, which would include hiring some of the company's core personnel and obtaining a non-exclusive license to its technology.

Sources familiar with the matter said that Mechanize personnel joining Google may be involved in AI model evaluation and development work. The two parties are still negotiating specific terms, and the deal structure and final amount may change. Google and Mechanize have not yet responded to the reports.

Mechanize was founded in 2024 and is headquartered in San Francisco, U.S. The company primarily develops reinforcement learning environments and evaluation systems for coding agents. Its technology can be used to train AI models to perform software engineering tasks such as feature development, code debugging, and application deployment.

In April of this year, Mechanize completed a $9.1 million funding round at a post-money valuation of $500 million, with investors including Marco Mascorro, Adam D'Angelo, and Devendra Chaplot. If this deal proceeds at the scale currently disclosed, its potential value would be significantly higher than Mechanize's valuation in its last funding round.

In recent years, major tech companies have continued to strengthen their AI research and development capabilities through talent acquisition and technology licensing. If this negotiation ultimately materializes, Google will further expand its AI programming and model training teams.
