en.Wedoany.com Reported - Yang Ming will launch a new feeder service named "RPX" on the South America East Coast (ECSA) in September, which will be realized by purchasing slots on ONE's "River Plate Express" service, a move that will connect the Taiwan-based shipping company to ONE's existing service network.

ONE adjusted this service in May, adding a call at the Port of Buenos Aires and replacing the original Port of Rio Grande with the Port of Rio de Janeiro. The adjusted "River Plate Express" service connects Rio de Janeiro, Zárate, Buenos Aires, and La Plata, before returning to Rio de Janeiro. Yang Ming will only use two ports of call on this service—Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires—with weekly operations carried out by two vessels of approximately 1,900 TEU capacity.

Yang Ming is expected to officially join the service on September 6, when the 1,930 TEU "ITHACA" will depart from Buenos Aires.

According to information from shipping consultancy Alphaliner, Yang Ming currently connects Rio de Janeiro with Asia through three Far East-to-South America East Coast services: "SSX" (which shifted from a slot buyer to a vessel provider since June), "SA3," and "SA5," with the latter two providing capacity through slot purchase agreements on services jointly operated with multiple shipping companies.

Since only "SA3" among the existing services directly calls at Buenos Aires, the new "RPX" feeder will provide an alternative option for cargo destined for Argentina, connecting via Rio de Janeiro to the "SA5" and "SSX" services.
