en.Wedoany.com Reported - Vaalco Energy Inc.'s ETBNM-3 gas well offshore Gabon has been brought into production, with natural gas flowing from the Dentale D-15 reservoir at the top of the North Tchibala structure.
Vaalco stated that the D-15 reservoir conditions exceeded pre-drill expectations, featuring high porosity, high permeability, and a net pay thickness exceeding 10 meters. The gas produced from the well meets the needs of field operations, loading, and power generation, and compared to higher-priced diesel, this gas supply approach reduces production energy costs.
The company is currently evaluating the potential of shallower zones within the D-9 and D-12 intervals. Preliminary indications suggest these intervals may contain wet gas to light oil pay zones.
Drilling operations are progressing as planned. The rig will be skidded to a new location on the SEENT platform to drill the ETSEM-3PH pilot hole and development well. The pilot hole is designed to determine the field's original oil-water contact and evaluate the potential of the underlying Dentale formation. Upon completion of the pilot hole, a horizontal development well is planned within the Gamba sand, with a completed interval length of 300 meters.
Vaalco is the operator of the Etame Marin block offshore Gabon, holding a 58.8% interest in the block.
