Daikin's New Mexico Refrigeration Plant Commences Operations, Cumulative Investment Reaches $270.2 Million

en.Wedoany.com Reported - August 12 news: Daikin Group's subsidiary Alliance Air Products has inaugurated a new facility in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, continuing to expand its production capacity for data center cooling equipment and industrial HVAC systems targeting the North American market. The company's cumulative investment in multiple expansion projects in Tijuana since 2024 amounts to approximately $270.2 million.

Alliance Air Products currently operates four facilities in Tijuana. Among this expansion, the TJ2 project involves an investment of approximately $129 million, while the TJ3–Petabyte project involves approximately $124 million; the latter is located in the Meor Industrial Park and primarily produces high-capacity cooling equipment for data centers and industrial HVAC solutions. The two investments total approximately $253 million, with the remaining funds allocated to the company's other local facilities, production processes, and supporting capability development.

Daikin Applied unveiled the preliminary construction plan for the new Tijuana plant in 2024. The initially disclosed project investment was $121 million, with a facility area of approximately 460,000 square feet, equivalent to roughly 42,700 square meters, planned to produce custom air handling units, computer room air handling equipment, and other data center cooling systems. The plan at that time was to complete construction by spring 2025 and gradually ramp up production in June of the same year.

With the new facility in operation, Alliance Air Products will further accommodate demand for data center cooling equipment from Mexico, the Western United States, and the Southwestern United States. Products cover custom air handling units, high-capacity industrial refrigeration equipment, and end-to-end HVAC systems, primarily applied in data centers and other high-energy industrial facilities requiring continuous temperature and humidity control.

Alliance Air Products joined the Daikin Group in 2023. Since then, the company's workforce in Baja California has grown from approximately 800 employees to 3,347 as of the end of July 2026. With the production expansion of projects such as TJ2 and TJ3–Petabyte, the company plans to increase its total local workforce to more than 8,000 by 2029, while simultaneously expanding technician training, logistics, equipment maintenance, and regional supply chain support.

This project also marks the first use case of Mexico's National Single Window for Digital Investment, with Alliance Air Products registered as enterprise No. 001 under this mechanism. The platform is used to coordinate investment procedures at the federal, state, and local levels, covering company establishment, project approvals, and related administrative processes.
