en.Wedoany.com Reported - Bay Crane, a US crane rental company, has acquired Clark Rigging & Rental, a lifting and rigging firm based in Lockport, New York, east of Niagara Falls. The acquisition expands the reach of Bay Crane, headquartered on Long Island, New York, into upstate New York.
Clark Rigging & Rental focuses on western and central New York State, with warehouses in Rochester and Syracuse, offering crane rental, rigging, and heavy-haul transportation services. Its fleet includes a 3.2-ton Jekko SPX532.2 spider crane, a 450-ton Tadano AC 7.450-1 all-terrain crane, rough-terrain cranes ranging from 15 to 120 tons, models from 100-ton telescopic boom cranes to a 300-ton Liebherr LR 1300.1 SX crawler crane, as well as some lifting/carry deck equipment.

In the coming years, the region is expected to offer significant business opportunities for crane and aerial work platform companies, driven by substantial investments in semiconductor manufacturing, infrastructure improvements, and data center development.
Clark Rigging & Rental traces its roots to 1954, when Floyd Clark founded the company as Niagara Erecting and Sheeting Co, specializing in structural steel installation, reinforcement, and cladding. In 1957, the company was incorporated as Niagara Erecting Inc, preparing for a major electric power project that began in 1958, which provided significant momentum. At the time, the company rented A-frame trucks and leased cranes from other businesses to serve contractors; the heavy industrial concentration around Niagara Falls at that time—including companies such as Carbide, Hooker, Stauffer Chemical, Pittsburgh Met, and Carborundum—generated substantial business. In 1960, Floyd Clark purchased his first Browning truck crane, and Clark Rigging & Rental was born.
Today, following the retirement of three siblings, the business is owned and managed by second-generation David Clark. He will continue to operate the company (at least for now), serving as regional manager overseeing operations across the entire region.
David Clark stated that Bay Crane and Clark Rigging & Rental share a cultural fit, and he believes the company can continue to grow on its existing foundation. He has known Ken Bernardo and the Bay Crane team for years, and both sides hold the same standards for customers and employees. By joining Bay Crane, the company will gain access to substantial resources while continuing to deliver the local service and commitment customers expect.
Ken Bernardo, CEO of Bay Crane, stated that Clark Rigging is exactly the kind of company Bay Crane seeks to partner with. The two companies have collaborated on numerous projects over the years, and the quality of Clark's employees, equipment, and customer service commands respect. Bay Crane welcomes the Clark team and looks forward to building on the solid reputation Clark Rigging has established in upstate New York.
Bay Crane was founded by Bay Cranes in 1939 and has expanded rapidly through acquisitions since 2022, now operating 24 locations and holding a leading position in the crane markets of New York and Chicago. The company operates as Bay Crane in New York State, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts; as Capital City in Michigan, West Virginia, and Ohio; and as Gatwood/Chellino Crane in Illinois and Indiana.
