Portugal's Resialentejo tenders €4.98 million bio-waste center in Beja
en.Wedoany.com Reported - Resialentejo has launched a public tender for the construction of a new bio-waste treatment center, to be located at the Montinho Environmental Park in Santa Clara de Louredo, Beja.

The base price for this tender is €4,980,000 (plus VAT), with an expected contract execution period of 365 days.
The works will include the construction of three new facilities dedicated to the treatment and recovery of separately collected bio-waste: a composting unit, responsible for the composting and maturation of bio-waste; a screening unit, for the mechanical separation of the composted material; and a compost finishing unit, for obtaining a final product with improved recovery characteristics. The works also include associated ground and auxiliary infrastructure, three outdoor operating platforms, as well as the construction of a new road entrance, internal roads, and access routes connecting the center's functional units.

This new facility will be dedicated exclusively to the treatment of separately collected bio-waste, allowing it to be processed separately from the general waste currently handled at the mechanical and biological treatment center, thereby enhancing operational efficiency and improving the quality of the compost produced. Resialentejo states that this center is a strategic investment aimed at strengthening bio-waste treatment and recovery capacity, promoting resource recovery, producing higher-quality compost, and progressively reducing landfill disposal.
The project falls under the "Strengthening RESIALENTEJO's Bio-Waste Treatment and Recovery Capacity" initiative, with a total estimated investment of approximately €10.6 million, and the corresponding application will be submitted to the SUSTENTÁVEL 2030 Programme (Programa SUSTENTÁVEL 2030).
Resialentejo was established on June 18, 2004, and is responsible for managing the municipal waste treatment and recovery system in Baixo Alentejo. This inter-municipal company provides municipal waste treatment services to the municipalities of Almodôvar, Barrancos, Beja, Castro Verde, Mértola, Moura, Ourique, and Serpa, processing approximately 50,000 tonnes per year, serving 86,505 residents across a service area of 6,650 square kilometers.
