Indorama Partners with Suntory and Iwatani to Introduce FtoP Recycled PET Technology in Thailand

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Indorama Ventures, through its packaging business segment Indovida, has entered into a strategic partnership with Suntory Holdings, Suntory PepsiCo Beverage (Thailand), and Iwatani Corporation to introduce Flake-to-Preform™ (FtoP) direct recycling technology in Thailand, advancing commercial-scale circular PET packaging.

The FtoP technology, jointly developed by Suntory and three partners including Japanese recycling company Kyoei Industry, directly converts recycled PET bottles into PET preforms, eliminating the repellettizing step in traditional recycling processes, thereby improving recycling efficiency and reducing environmental impact.Compared to conventional virgin fossil-based materials, this technology is expected to reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 70%.

The collaboration will be implemented through Indovida (Thailand) Limited, a joint venture established by Indorama Ventures and Iwatani in July 2026.This joint venture marks the first commercial deployment of FtoP technology in Southeast Asia, with an expected annual production of recycled PET preforms equivalent to approximately 400 million PET bottles.Starting in 2028, all products will be supplied to Suntory PepsiCo Beverage (Thailand), which will become the project's first commercial customer.

Indorama Ventures will provide expertise in PET, recycled PET, and packaging manufacturing; Suntory will contribute the FtoP technology and operational experience accumulated in Japan; and Iwatani will offer industrial expertise and its existing partnership with Suntory.
