Google Adds Antigravity to Gemini Enterprise

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 24, Google integrated the AI coding agent Antigravity into Gemini Enterprise, adding consumption control tools such as budget quotas, overage management, and usage metrics to help enterprises address cost control challenges in the large-scale deployment of AI coding agents.

Previously, Antigravity was deployed through Vertex AI (now the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform), allowing enterprises to leverage Google Cloud's security and governance infrastructure, but lacking a unified centralized management mechanism to pool unused capacity across developers, set spending limits on usage, or manage overage usage. The new tools change this: administrators can set monthly project-level budget caps and share token capacity across teams; once pooled quotas are exhausted, administrators can choose to enable overage usage (subject to monthly spending caps); centralized usage metrics provide visibility into dimensions such as token consumption, API calls, and developer activity.

Analysts believe the new cost control tools help enterprises manage AI spending. Under Antigravity's previous cloud consumption model, spending was attributed at the project level, allowing finance teams to see total costs but not necessarily which developers or tasks drove the spending. The usage metrics provided by the new tools help administrators understand the distribution of AI resource consumption across teams and developers, and enable spending optimization planning through tools such as budget caps. Pooled quotas and overage enablement features further optimize spending by sharing unused AI capacity and preventing unexpected bills, respectively.

However, not all governance features are immediately available. Google stated that user-level and team-level controls are expected to roll out later in 2026, with enterprises initially limited to project-level budget caps. Additionally, the new tools are currently available through Gemini Enterprise Standard, Plus, and Standard Emerging Market licenses; enterprises that have deployed Antigravity on the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform but do not hold qualifying licenses may need to purchase additional subscriptions. Analysts noted that for teams running autonomous multi-turn coding agents, pooled usage and hard spending caps can serve as a financial safety net; for enterprises primarily engaged in basic autocomplete-style assistance, upgrading solely for governance features may not be cost-effective.

Google has also expanded Antigravity to mainstream IDEs such as VS Code, Visual Studio, JetBrains, and Zed, offering it in preview form to lower the barrier to developer adoption.
