en.Wedoany.com Reported - All 100MW of electrolyzer equipment for the Hamburg Green Hydrogen Hub (HGHH) in Germany have been delivered, with the project now targeting commissioning in 2027.

Siemens Energy announced that the final PEM electrolyzer unit has been delivered to the site of the former Moorburg coal-fired power plant.

Once operational, the project aims to produce 10,000 metric tons of green hydrogen annually, supplying industrial end users and connecting to a 40-kilometer regional hydrogen pipeline.

The project, operated by a consortium including Luxcara and Hamburger Energiewerke, has been recognized as a "Project of European Common Interest" and officially broke ground at the end of 2025.

Siemens Energy was selected in September 2024 to supply the electrolyzers for the project, following its contract for EWE's 280MW project in Emden. Since its Berlin factory began operations in 2023, the company has been producing PEM electrolyzers through a joint manufacturing venture with industrial gas company Air Liquide.

The Hamburg Hydrogen Industry Network (HH-WIN) pipeline, which will carry the HGHH project's hydrogen output, has also recently begun construction on the H2 Connector to link the network to Germany's 9,000-kilometer hydrogen backbone grid.

The advancement of the HGHH project further adds to Germany's green hydrogen production capacity.

Although Germany already has 1.3GW of projects with final investment decisions (FID) in place, the Germany Association of Energy and Water Industries recently stated that the country's electrolytic hydrogen production capacity is "stalling," with nearly 12GW of projects still in the planning stage before reaching FID.
