Klaipėda Port Authority Launches Design for New Marina with Approximately 85 Berths in 2026

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Klaipėda Port Authority in Lithuania has launched the design work for a new marina for yachts and recreational boats, located adjacent to the new cruise terminal currently under construction, and is expected to provide approximately 85 berths for leisure vessels ranging from 10 to 20 meters in length.

Klaipėda Port Authority launched an international tender earlier in 2026 and subsequently awarded the design contract to Hidrosfera, with a contract value of €145,000 (excluding VAT). Hidrosfera will be responsible for the design of the marina and its utility infrastructure, preparation of detailed technical designs, obtaining the necessary construction permits, coordinating technical solutions, and providing design supervision during the construction period.

The marina will be built in the harbor basin adjacent to the cruise terminal, with a central location convenient for both local boat owners and visiting yachts. The new facility aims to alleviate the shortage of recreational boat berths in Klaipėda and the surrounding region, and will provide moored vessels with access to electricity and fresh water.

Algis Latakas, CEO of Klaipėda Port Authority, stated that as a maritime nation, Lithuania needs to invest in infrastructure for the recreational yachting industry, whether for local boat owners or overseas visitors. He added that through the construction of the new cruise terminal, they also hope to help address the shortage of recreational boat berths.

The new cruise terminal will include vessel infrastructure and a public waterfront area, featuring pedestrian walkways, bicycle paths, and an amphitheater facing the water, providing space for events and public activities. The cruise terminal complex is expected to be completed in 2027.
