Main Works of China Huadian Lingbao Pumped Storage Power Station Kick Off

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 30, the main works of China Huadian Lingbao Pumped Storage Power Station officially commenced, marking a new stage of comprehensive implementation in the project's construction.

Located in Zhuyang Town, Lingbao City, Sanmenxia City, Henan Province, the project is a key implementation initiative under the "14th Five-Year Plan" of the Medium- and Long-Term Development Plan for Pumped Storage (2021–2035) issued by the National Energy Administration. It is invested and constructed by Huadian Power International Corporation Limited, featuring four 300 MW single-stage vertical-axis Francis reversible units with a total installed capacity of 1,200 MW, and is scheduled to commence power generation in 2030.

Anchored on the goal of building a "quality project that withstands the test of history," the project adheres to a dual-drive approach of technological and managerial innovation, focusing on targeted technical breakthroughs in industry challenges such as tunnel construction in fractured surrounding rock, dam construction on soft foundations, and flexible anti-seepage systems. Concurrently, a digital and intelligent management and control platform is being developed to strive for full-process construction visibility, dynamic resource controllability, complete quality traceability, and precise risk prevention.

Upon completion, the station is expected to primarily undertake core functions for the Henan power grid, including peak shaving, valley filling, energy storage, frequency regulation, voltage regulation, and emergency standby. It is projected to generate 1.589 billion kWh annually. Additionally, by storing surplus wind and solar power during off-peak periods, it can enhance the grid's renewable energy integration capacity by over 2.1 billion kWh each year, equivalent to saving approximately 418,000 tonnes of standard coal, playing a significant role in optimizing the regional energy structure, ensuring power security, and promoting green development.
