Wizz Air Adds 8 New Airports in 2026-2027

Ranked by departing flight volume, the new airports are: Oradea, Romania (312 flights), Ankara, Turkey (156 flights), Alexandria, Egypt (137 flights), Menorca, Spain (82 flights), Rijeka, Croatia (67 flights), Kefalonia, Greece (63 flights), Zadar, Croatia (52 flights), and Kalamata, Greece (14 flights).

Oradea is the airport with the highest flight volume among the new additions. Oradea International Airport (OMR) is located in northwestern Romania. Wizz Air operates three routes from this airport, serving Milan Bergamo and Rome Fiumicino in Italy, and Dortmund in Germany. The routes are operated by Wizz Air's Maltese subsidiary, Wizz Air Malta, with two weekly flights using the 239-seat Airbus A321neo. Wizz Air recently celebrated its 20th anniversary in the Romanian market. Chief Commercial Officer Ian Malin stated that this achievement is attributed to passenger loyalty, the talent of the local team, and the strength of partners, and the company will continue to provide affordable and reliable air travel to Romanian customers.

Half of the new airports are located in Croatia and Greece, two Mediterranean leisure destinations. In Croatia, Wizz Air has added Rijeka and Zadar. The Rijeka routes operate 67 flights from August to October 2026, serving Gdansk, Katowice, and Lublin. Zadar has 52 flights, concentrated in August and September, serving Budapest and Warsaw.

In Greece, the new airports are Kalamata International Airport (KLX) and Kefalonia International Airport (EFL). Kalamata has the lowest flight volume among all new airports, with only 14 flights during the reporting period, operating Budapest services in August and September 2026. Kefalonia has 63 flights, concentrated in August and September, serving Bucharest, Budapest, and Rome.

Menorca's Mahon Airport (MAH) in Spain's Balearic Islands is also a new destination. From August to October 2026, Wizz Air operates 82 flights at this airport. Budapest and Warsaw routes run throughout the three months, while the Rome route ceases after September, with the latter operated by Wizz Air Malta.

In addition to the airports mentioned above, the second and third highest flight volumes among the new airports are Ankara, Turkey, and Alexandria, Egypt, respectively. The Ankara route operates three times weekly year-round, connecting to Wizz Air's Budapest base. The Alexandria route operates three times weekly to Rome Fiumicino, launching in September and operating at least through July 2027, using the A321neo aircraft.
