Jiangxi Copper's Wushan Copper Mine Phase III in China officially commences production, processing 10,000 tonnes of ore per day
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 1, the Phase III expansion project of Jiangxi Copper's Wushan Copper Mine officially commenced production. Located in Baiyang Town, Ruichang City, Jiangxi Province, the project has a total investment of approximately RMB 2.1 billion, with a designed daily ore processing capacity of 10,000 tonnes, a designed service life of 24 years, and designed recoverable resources of approximately 77 million tonnes. Its main products include copper concentrate and sulfur concentrate. Once the project reaches full production, the annual copper content in copper concentrate will exceed 20,000 tonnes, and sulfur concentrate output will reach over 500,000 tonnes.

Construction of the Phase III expansion project began in July 2021, with the main works essentially completed in December 2025. In January 2026, the project transitioned to full trial production at a processing scale of 8,000 tonnes/day; by June, mining and ore dressing capacity had reached over 9,000 tonnes/day, subsequently ramping up further to a 10,000-tonne-class mining and processing capacity. On June 26, the occupational disease prevention facilities of the project passed completion acceptance; on June 29, the safety facilities passed the completion acceptance review by the expert panel of the National Mine Safety Administration, completing the key preliminary procedures for subsequent formal production.
The project is the first 10,000-tonne-class deep mine with a shaft depth exceeding 1,000 meters in Jiangxi Province, with a main shaft depth of 1,088 meters and an auxiliary shaft depth of 1,119 meters. The Phase III project focuses on capacity expansion of deep shaft development, mining, hoisting and transportation, and ore dressing systems. The newly built ore dressing system is equipped with production facilities such as semi-autogenous grinding and flotation, of which the flotation system is installed with 35 flotation machines, adopting intelligent control and variable frequency speed regulation. Underground, unmanned electric locomotive transport equipment is deployed, while surface facilities include an ore dressing expert system and automated production installations.
Prior to the commissioning of the Phase III production system, the Phase II ore dressing system of Wushan Copper Mine had a processing capacity of 5,000 tonnes/day. After parallel operation of the Phase II and Phase III systems and equipment commissioning, the Phase II ore dressing workshop ceased operation in July, and the mine's mining and processing production was fully switched to the Phase III system, with daily processing capacity increased from 5,000 tonnes to 10,000 tonnes. Phase III also adopts processes such as full tailings paste backfill and wastewater recycling, and is equipped with supporting photovoltaic power generation facilities covering nearly 20,000 square meters.
