en.Wedoany.com Reported - Kino Aski LNG plans to build a liquefied natural gas export facility in Baie-Comeau, Quebec, Canada, with a designed LNG production capacity of up to 15 million tonnes per year. The project intends to use natural gas from Western Canada, transported to Baie-Comeau via existing pipeline networks and approximately 1,000 kilometers of new pipeline infrastructure, and exported from the local port.
The project development company, Kino Aski LNG Inc., is majority-owned by Canadian Indigenous parties, with Kino Aski Inc. holding a 51% stake and Marinvest Energy Canada Inc. holding 49%. Kino Aski Inc. is led by the Atikamekw Nation and plans to involve other Indigenous communities in Quebec and Ontario in the project.
The Baie-Comeau liquefaction facility is planned to adopt a floating LNG solution, with port infrastructure designed to support the year-round operation of up to three electrically driven FLNG units. The project also plans approximately 1,700 MW of wind power capacity, supplying the Baie-Comeau facility in conjunction with the Quebec grid.
The project is currently in the development stage, with technical and engineering studies, environmental impact assessments, and Indigenous and community consultations underway. Formal regulatory approval procedures have not yet been initiated. The project developer lists subsequent work items, including completing technical and engineering studies, continuing community consultations, engaging European and Canadian partners and customers, and preparing regulatory filing materials.
