en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 3, Malaysia Petroleum Management (MPM), a subsidiary of Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS), signed an agreement with Iraya Energies to integrate Agentic AI capabilities into the PETRONAS myPROdata upstream data platform. The platform provides investors and oil and gas industry players with access to subsurface and surface data on Malaysia's exploration blocks, discovered resource opportunities, and producing oil and gas fields. This upgrade will further integrate geological, geophysical, engineering, and other upstream data.

The upgraded system will leverage Agentic AI to autonomously analyze and correlate data from multiple sources, supporting end-to-end workflows from prospect identification and resource assessment to development opportunity analysis and commercial viability evaluation. PETRONAS has explicitly stated its goal of using this platform to reduce the time investors need to screen and evaluate upstream opportunities in Malaysia, while consolidating data access and AI analytics capabilities within a single platform.

Under the agreement, Iraya Energies will serve as the Consortium Lead Integrator, responsible for establishing the technical, commercial, and security foundation required for deploying Agentic AI capabilities, as well as undertaking integration work for subsequent larger-scale project rollouts. Publicly available information has not yet disclosed the contract value, specific go-live date, the number of blocks in the initial onboarding phase, or the full deployment timeline.

PETRONAS has also outlined upstream investment targets directly tied to this platform. MPM aims to attract approximately RM50 billion to RM60 billion in annual upstream investment to Malaysia and seeks to compress the cycle from hydrocarbon discovery to first production from roughly 100 months to 50 months. The Agentic AI upgrade of myPROdata will support this investment evaluation process, though the agreement itself does not correspond to any development award or final investment decision for specific oil and gas blocks.

This project is not the same application as PETRONAS's previously advanced TriCipta AI. TriCipta AI primarily targets upstream operational scenarios such as production equipment optimization, capacity performance, maintenance reliability, and asset integrity, whereas this myPROdata upgrade is primarily focused on resource opportunity screening, investment evaluation, and development commercial analysis—positioned at the front end of oil and gas investment decision-making.
