en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 11, BASF announced that, with immediate effect or as existing contractual terms permit, it will increase the prices of its Lupranate® series MDI (diphenylmethane diisocyanate) base products and TDI (toluene diisocyanate) in ASEAN and South Asian countries by a uniform USD 250 per tonne. This adjustment covers both MDI and TDI, two core polyurethane raw materials.

BASF stated that this round of price increases is driven by persistently rising costs for raw materials, transportation, and energy. The new prices will not be mandatorily switched on the same date across the board; for existing contracts, they will be implemented at the time permitted under the respective contractual terms.

Since the beginning of this year, BASF has adjusted MDI and TDI prices in the Asian market multiple times. On February 25, the company announced a USD 200 per tonne increase for Lupranate® MDI base products in the ASEAN market; on March 23, it raised both MDI and TDI prices in East Asia (excluding mainland China) by USD 500 per tonne. The March adjustment likewise took the form of "effective immediately or in accordance with contractual terms" and was attributed to raw material, transportation, and energy costs.

Regarding TDI, BASF had already raised Lupranate® TDI prices in the ASEAN and South Asian markets by USD 200 per tonne in December 2025; in February 2026, it further increased TDI prices in the Asia-Pacific region (excluding mainland China) as well as the Middle East and Africa by USD 200 per tonne. This September adjustment again brings ASEAN and South Asia into the same pricing scope and covers both MDI base products and TDI.
