Mongolia Reaches September Fuel Supply Arrangement with CNPC: 10,000 Tons of Gasoline, 4,000 Tons of Aviation Fuel

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 10, Mongolia's Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources announced the latest fuel supply arrangement with relevant parties of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC). The two sides agreed to supply Mongolia with 10,000 tons of motor gasoline, 4,000 tons of aviation fuel, and 3,000 tons of diesel in September, and to continue cooperation on a long-term, stable refined oil supply mechanism.

This supply arrangement was formed after consultations between Mongolia's Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources and the Chinese side on topics including refined oil supply, oil exploration and development, feedstock security for refineries, and coal chemical cooperation. The two sides also agreed to formulate follow-up plans and advance research separately for long-term fuel supply, oil and gas exploration, cooperation on new exploration blocks, and refinery feedstock supply.

In addition to the confirmed September supply volume, the Mongolian side also proposed additional procurement needs to CNPC, including an additional 5,000 tons of AI-92 gasoline and 20,000–30,000 tons of diesel in September, as well as 10,000 tons of AI-92 gasoline and 30,000–40,000 tons of diesel in October. The above additional quantities are currently procurement needs proposed by the Mongolian side and do not constitute confirmed supply volumes.

The Mongolian government had already been expanding the scale of refined oil imports from China. On August 8, when Mongolian Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene met with the management of PetroChina Daqing Tamsag, he proposed that China increase the stable monthly supply of AI-92 gasoline to Mongolia to 12,000–15,000 tons; at that time, China had already confirmed the supply of 6,000 tons of AI-92 gasoline to Mongolia in August.

Mongolia is also concurrently advancing the construction of domestic refining capacity. On August 17, the Weidu website published a project milestone indicating that the construction progress of Mongolia's first large-scale refinery has exceeded 60%. The project is designed with a crude oil processing capacity of 1.5 million tons per year and is scheduled to be commissioned in the second quarter of 2028.
