Hualong One Version 2.0 Independent Innovation Achievements Promoted in Beijing

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 11, the "Road of Independent Innovation for Hualong One" media tour was launched in Beijing, focusing on promoting the independent innovation achievements and technical advantages of Hualong One Version 2.0. According to reports, Hualong One Version 2.0 adopts Chinese standards and has achieved 100% localization capability for key equipment, with its safety performance indicators ranking in the first tier among large pressurized water reactors globally.

Hualong One is a million-kilowatt-class Generation III pressurized water reactor nuclear power technology developed on the basis of China's over 40 years of experience in nuclear power research and development, design, manufacturing, construction, and operation, with fully independent intellectual property rights. Hualong One Version 2.0 is a "Generation III+" advanced pressurized water reactor nuclear power technology introduced through independent innovation and overall coordination, building on the summary of engineering construction and operational experience of Hualong One.

In terms of technical route, Hualong One Version 2.0 adopts Chinese standards, independently developed software, and optimized active and passive safety systems, and applies advanced technologies in intelligent control and modular construction, significantly reducing engineering volume and improving safety, advancement, and economic efficiency.

In terms of advancement, Hualong One Version 2.0 adopts advanced core protection technology, advanced core control technology, advanced instrumentation and control technology, and intelligent nuclear power technology. It also has passive startup capability, which can improve unit operational flexibility and maintenance convenience, and reduce the workload of construction and operation personnel.

In terms of safety, Hualong One Version 2.0, through optimizing active and passive safety technologies, has comprehensively optimized 14 safety features on the basis of the original defense-in-depth safety system, with 9 key safety indicators significantly improved. The related design can achieve 72 hours of no operator intervention after an accident and 7 days of accident self-sufficiency.

In terms of economic efficiency, Hualong One Version 2.0, while further enhancing overall safety, simplifies auxiliary system configurations and reduces the number of equipment and use of bulk materials, thereby lowering engineering volume and construction costs. At the same time, it further optimizes the layout of plant buildings and equipment and adopts modular advanced construction technology on a large scale to reduce on-site workload, shorten the construction period, and lower construction risks.

According to reports, Hualong One Version 2.0 has achieved 100% localization capability for key equipment and has driven nearly 6,000 upstream and downstream units to form a relatively complete industrial chain supply system, developing in coordination with China's equipment manufacturing, construction, and other industrial chains.

As of now, 11 Hualong One units have been put into commercial operation at home and abroad, and another 36 units have been approved or are under construction, with the total number of units ranking among the top globally for Generation III nuclear power. A single Hualong One unit has an annual designed power generation of nearly 10 billion kilowatt-hours, which can meet the annual production and living electricity demand of a medium-sized city with a population of over one million, equivalent to reducing standard coal consumption by more than 3 million tons and carbon dioxide emissions by more than 9 million tons per year.
