en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 17, Turkish Airlines and Air China signed an agreement at the opening ceremony of the 4th China Air Transport Association Aviation Conference held in Beijing to expand the scope of their existing codeshare cooperation. The two parties have operated free-sale codeshare on the Istanbul–Beijing route since June 2024. This agreement expands the cooperation to all direct trunk routes between China and Türkiye, and includes selected domestic routes in China connecting via Beijing as well as selected international routes connecting via Istanbul.

Under the expanded agreement, Turkish Airlines passengers can connect via Beijing to six destinations in mainland China: Shenzhen, Chongqing, Xiamen, Hangzhou, Nanjing and Qingdao. Air China passengers can connect via Istanbul to Ankara, as well as African and Latin American destinations including Accra, Lagos, Marrakesh, Dar es Salaam, Algiers, Tunis, Cancún and Mexico City. The associated connecting flights can be included in the same ticket sales system through codeshare.

This agreement adjusts the scope of the two airlines' codeshare and connecting flight sales; it does not simultaneously announce the launch of the above routes or an increase in flight capacity. Turkish Airlines and Air China are both Star Alliance members, and the two parties also plan to continue including future new direct China–Türkiye routes within the scope of their codeshare cooperation.
