en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 16, Embraer and aircraft leasing company Regional One announced that BermudAir will become the world's second E-Freighter operator, leasing one E190F freighter through Regional One. Once in service, the aircraft will become the first E190F in operation in the Americas. Regional One has so far placed firm orders with Embraer for five E190Fs, of which two have completed passenger-to-freighter conversion and been delivered for operation.

BermudAir

BermudAir currently operates two E175 and two E190 passenger aircraft, with routes covering 10 destinations across Bermuda, the Caribbean, the United States and Canada. With the introduction of the E190F, the company will for the first time extend its existing regional aviation network into cargo operations, focusing on express parcels, e-commerce goods and time-sensitive cargo between islands. Embraer and Regional One have not yet disclosed the specific delivery date, lease term or lease amount for the aircraft.

The E190F is converted from the E190 passenger aircraft and is part of Embraer's E-Freighter passenger-to-freighter program. The freighter's upper and lower cargo compartments together provide more than 100 cubic meters of cargo space, with a maximum payload of approximately 13.5 tonnes. Compared with large turboprop freighters, the E-Freighter offers about 40% more cargo volume and more than three times the range; compared with larger single-aisle jet freighters, it can reduce operating costs by up to about 30%.

The first operator of the E190F program is Bridges Air Cargo. On March 9, 2026, the company put its first E190F into commercial service, with the first commercial flight operating from Cologne, Germany, to Larnaca, Cyprus, primarily serving an express transport network across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Bridges was also previously the launch customer for the E190F program, with its first aircraft also provided by Regional One.

Regional One's order scale in the E-Freighter program has continued to expand from an early two aircraft. Embraer disclosed in March 2026 that the two parties added two more E-Jets passenger-to-freighter orders in 2025, doubling the conversion order scale at that time; as of the announcement of this BermudAir project, Regional One's firm orders for the E190F have increased to five, with two already converted and in operation.

The E-Freighter program first completed the maiden flight of its first converted E190F in April 2024. The first aircraft was owned by Regional One, and Embraer subsequently completed testing, certification and commercial delivery. With BermudAir joining, the E190F's operating regions will further expand from Europe, the Middle East and Africa to the North American and Caribbean markets.
