China's Jereh Group Secures US$180 Million EPC Contract for LNG Receiving Terminal in Colombia

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 15, Amazónica LNG of Colombia announced that, through Jereh Oil & Gas Colombia, it has formally signed an EPC contract with China's Jereh Group, under which Jereh will serve as the main contractor for its LNG receiving and regasification project in Palermo, Magdalena Department. The project involves private investment of approximately US$180 million. Detailed design has now been fully completed, and the permits required to proceed with equipment procurement and construction have been obtained, bringing the project to the "Ready to Build" stage.

Jereh's scope of work includes supporting engineering design, procurement and manufacturing of major equipment and materials, construction, commissioning preparation, and start-up support. The EPC execution period is expected to be 18 to 21 months. The next phase will involve establishing a local engineering team, supplier procurement, placing orders for major equipment, and site construction preparation. The project is scheduled to begin operations in the first half of 2028.

The project is located in the Palermo area of Sitionuevo Municipality, Magdalena Department, Colombia, and is primarily responsible for LNG import, storage, and regasification. Amazónica LNG has also obtained final authorization from Colombia's General Maritime Directorate (Dimar) for the anchoring site of the floating storage unit (FSU). Under the current design, the onshore facilities and the FSU will have a combined LNG storage capacity of 210,000 cubic meters and a natural gas send-out capacity of up to 200 million cubic feet per day.

Once completed, the project will primarily supply stable natural gas to Colombia's gas-fired power generation projects, while also serving industrial, commercial, and other gas demand. The infrastructure also includes planned LNG truck loading capacity, enabling the supply of LNG and natural gas to captive energy projects in the Palermo industrial cluster.

Amazónica LNG was jointly established by port logistics company Retramar and Affinity Energy, and the project is positioned as Colombia's first onshore LNG regasification facility. With the signing of the EPC contract, the project has moved from the detailed design and permitting stage into the preparation stage for equipment procurement and construction execution.
