Metso Starts Local Manufacturing of Vibrating Screen Panels in Peru, with Annual Capacity Exceeding 28,000 Pieces

Production is arranged at Metso's mill lining factory (Revestimientos de Molinos de Metso) in the Zona Industrial Vulcano in Lima. The factory has accumulated more than ten years of manufacturing experience and currently operates as a Metso regional hub.

The addition of an injection machine further expands the aforementioned manufacturing capability, enabling Metso to include the manufacturing of custom vibrating screen PS panels in its local product supply range.

The new operation combines automated production with flexibility to adapt to the different needs of mineral processing operations. Its annual capacity exceeds 28,000 panels. The screen panels are manufactured in two specifications, 1×1 ft and 1×2 ft, using 40 Shore and 60 Shore rubber injection machines, and adopting highly abrasion-resistant and wear-resistant materials.

Jesús Azambuja, Manager of Metso's mill lining factory in Peru, said that the new capability brings the manufacturing process closer to where customers address operational challenges, shortening distances and enhancing the ability to respond to needs; this proximity is expected to translate into solutions available when operations require them, adapted to customer conditions and consistent with customer expectations of Metso quality.

In addition to production capacity, this new operation is supported by Metso Peru's materials and quality control laboratory, which can verify the characteristics and performance of locally manufactured products.

This control system ensures that screens produced in Peru comply with Metso's quality standards and global specifications, combining the advantages of local manufacturing with the experience, technology and knowledge of an international company. Azambuja added that local capability development must be accompanied by globally unified quality standards, and the laboratory enables it to maintain this level of control, delivering locally manufactured solutions to Peruvian customers while providing the trust and consistency that customers expect from Metso.

The new capability has already produced concrete results. Metso has supplied its first batch of vibrating screen panels to a major customer in central-northern Peru, and is currently conducting tests simultaneously to meet the vibrating screen panel needs of another major mining customer in Peru.

These initial advances mark a new stage in Metso's local manufacturing in the country and expand the options available to mining operations, especially in applications where component availability, response time and adaptation to customer operating conditions are key factors.

With this added capability, the mill lining factory continues to expand its role as a manufacturing platform for Peru and the region, strengthening Metso's local capabilities and getting closer to mining operations, providing solutions designed to improve availability, productivity and reliability.
