From January to August, China's newly added recoverable oil reserves reached nearly 70 million tons, and newly added recoverable natural gas reserves reached 610 billion cubic meters. The newly added resources at the Chating Copper-Gold Mine in Anhui and the Zhugongtang Lead-Zinc Mine in Guizhou reached super-large scale.

Zhou Xing, spokesperson and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Natural Resources, said that during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period, China's demand for important mineral resources will continue to show rigid growth. The Ministry of Natural Resources will continue to implement the new round of strategic actions for mineral exploration breakthroughs, firmly secure the energy "rice bowl," and provide strong support for China's development of advanced manufacturing.

Zhou Xing said that we will adhere to geological survey taking the lead to lay a solid foundation for mineral exploration. Minerals are generally hosted underground, and mineral exploration must first clarify China's basic geological conditions and delineate areas where minerals may occur. To this end, we will organize the implementation of the National Geological Mapping Plan, promote an increase in the coverage rate of 1:50,000 regional geological surveys in land areas to 51%, and increase the coverage rate of mineral geological surveys in important metallogenic belts to 66%, so as to gain a clear understanding of the resource and energy base.

We will intensify exploration and extraction to promote reserve increases and capacity improvement. The Ministry of Natural Resources will organize a "major mineral exploration campaign," focusing on scarce minerals such as oil, iron, copper, and aluminum, while also taking into account advantageous minerals such as rare earths. It will deploy a number of key exploration and extraction projects, strive to discover a number of new medium- and large-sized mineral deposits and oil and gas fields, find more mines, find large mines, and find rich mines, and at the same time steadily advance the construction of about 300 energy and resource bases, significantly increase China's self-sufficiency rate for strategic mineral resources, and strengthen confidence in safeguarding energy and resource security.
