en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 18, German specialty chemicals company Lanxess and Wuxi Nanfang Petroleum Additives Co., Ltd. signed a memorandum of understanding at Lanxess's headquarters in Cologne, Germany. The two parties will conduct a strategic cooperation assessment focused on the lubricant additives business, with emphasis on supply chain resilience, regional manufacturing capabilities, and customer service system development in China and the Asia-Pacific region. The cooperation framework will further cover areas including technology, commercial operations, and supply chain.

Under the agreement, both parties will evaluate cooperation opportunities within specific lubricant additive value chains. Lanxess will primarily contribute formulation R&D capabilities and market channels, while Wuxi Nanfang will leverage its local manufacturing and regional supply advantages. The two parties plan to enhance localized production and delivery capabilities in the Chinese and Asia-Pacific markets through coordinated supply capabilities.

Lanxess's lubricant additives business currently covers lubricant additives, additive packages, synthetic base oils, and specialty finished lubricants, with products mainly used in industries including automotive, mechanical engineering, metalworking, shipbuilding, and aviation. The business has approximately 800 employees, 12 production sites, and about 660 products worldwide, with product lines including Additin, Naugalube, Hatcol, and Synton.

Wuxi Nanfang Petroleum Additives Co., Ltd. regards this cooperation as the foundation for both parties to further enter into collaboration in lubricant additives and related value chains. The current agreement remains at the cooperation framework stage, and both parties will continue to negotiate specific technical cooperation, product supply, manufacturing arrangements, and business models. Public information has not yet disclosed specific investment amounts, new production capacity, lists of cooperation products, or project implementation timelines.

This cooperation focuses on the regional supply system. Lanxess stated that the Asia-Pacific region is an important growth market for its lubricant business, and customer demands for local supply, delivery cycles, and product consistency continue to increase.
