en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 27, the Tumu Traditional Authority in the Sissala East Municipality of Ghana's Upper West Region required affected buildings and shops along the road from the Tumu Roundabout toward Léo to relocate within two weeks, clearing the road right-of-way for subsequent construction of the Tumu–Léo cross-border road. The route leads to the Burkina Faso border and has been included in the Ghanaian government's "Big Push" infrastructure program.

The clearing mainly covers the existing road reservation along the route from the Tumu Roundabout toward Léo, involving residences, shops, container shops, and other facilities occupying the road red line. The local traditional authority stated that the road reservation corridor has existed for many years, and once the relocation along the route is completed, it will create on-site conditions for road widening and construction.

The Tumu–Léo route serves cross-border traffic from northern Ghana toward Burkina Faso. Ghana has incorporated this international corridor into the government's road infrastructure program. The latest milestone confirmed by currently available public information is the pre-construction road corridor clearing; the project's full contract amount, construction mileage, technical standards, and official start date have not yet been publicly disclosed by the Ghanaian government.

It should be particularly noted that Mawums Construction Limited is currently carrying out road projects around Tumu, including Tumu–Sissili–Navrongo and Tumu–Banu. The local traditional authority this time only recommended that the government continue to select Mawums for the Tumu–Léo-related works; existing public information cannot yet confirm that the company has obtained the formal construction contract for the Tumu–Léo cross-border road. The Tumu–Sissili–Navrongo project undertaken by Mawums has previously carried out subgrade, stabilized base, seal, and bridge construction.

The Ghanaian government is currently advancing the upgrade of the Wa–Tumu–Bolgatanga trunk line in the Upper West and Upper East Regions simultaneously. The Office of the President disclosed in September that this corridor is a key trunk line in the first phase of the "Big Push," and that after the existing works complete double surface treatment, asphalt sealing is also planned. Tumu thus simultaneously connects the east-west Wa–Bolgatanga corridor and the northward road toward Léo to Burkina Faso.
