Turkey's Maren Maras Advances 99MW Geothermal Power Plant Development, Plans 27 Wells

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Turkey's Maren Maras Elektrik Üretim Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. is advancing a geothermal power generation project with a total installed capacity of 99MW in the Germencik area of Aydın Province. The project's final Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report has been submitted to the relevant regulatory authorities. The development area is located within the J-552 geothermal resource operating license zone, covering areas including Camikebir, Çamköy, Hıdırbeyli, Mursallı, and Reisköy.

The project plans to construct 3 geothermal power plants, each with an installed capacity of 33MW, for a total installed capacity of 99MW. A total of 27 well sites are planned for the supporting geothermal resource development, with each power plant equipped with 6 production wells and 3 reinjection wells, i.e., 9 wells per plant. The project will extract geothermal fluid through production wells and reinject the used geothermal fluid back into the underground reservoir through reinjection wells, forming a system of power generation and resource recycling.

The project's earlier plan had proposed 36 geothermal wells, which was subsequently adjusted during the environmental impact assessment process, reducing the total number of well sites to 27 while canceling some backup power plant and backup well site plans. The final EIA report has now been completed and submitted, further clarifying the project development scope and main construction content.

Maren Maras is affiliated with Turkey's Kipaş Holding and already operates multiple geothermal power plants in Aydın Province. The company's existing assets include projects such as Maren and Nezihe Beren 2, among which Nezihe Beren 2 has an installed capacity of 13MW and was commissioned at the end of 2025. If this 99MW project proceeds to construction, it will further expand its power generation scale in the Germencik geothermal resource area.
