MVTec Launches AI Vision Solver Machine Vision Prototype System

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 28, German machine vision software company MVTec Software announced the AI Vision Solver prototype system and plans to demonstrate it on-site at the VISION 2026 trade fair, to be held from October 6 to 8 in Stuttgart, Germany. The system combines MVTec HALCON machine vision software with multiple AI Agents, and can generate, check, and iterate machine vision application workflows in the HDevelopEVO development environment based on task instructions entered by the user.

AI Vision Solver currently mainly covers industrial vision tasks such as barcode reading, image matching, and optical character recognition. In the on-site demonstration, users can select a task via the touchscreen and enter a prompt, after which the system calls AI Agents to build the corresponding program in HDevelopEVO; if the generated result contains syntax errors or logical gaps, the development environment feeds the problems back to the AI Agents for subsequent correction and iteration. MVTec has also preset a machine vision knowledge base for the AI Agents to support task configuration and program generation.

The prototype is built on HDevelopEVO. HDevelopEVO is a new-generation integrated development environment that MVTec is developing for HALCON and is still in the Preview stage, mainly adding project structure management, code navigation, script organization, and visual debugging functions. MVTec plans to gradually replace the existing HALCON development environment with HDevelopEVO starting in 2027. What AI Vision Solver demonstrates this time is a prototype application combining AI Agents with this new development framework.

HDevelopEVO has already added .NET interface integration in HALCON 26.05, enabling the scripts it generates to be embedded into external applications; in the same release, AI Assistant also added visual prompting capability, allowing developers to directly add image data to prompt content. HALCON 26.05 also upgraded deep learning-based object detection and added machine vision functions such as corrected reading of Data Matrix codes on curved and deformed surfaces and automatic optimization of shape matching contours.

MVTec has explicitly positioned AI Vision Solver as a prototype system this time and has not yet announced a standalone commercial version, release date, or licensing model. During VISION 2026 in October, the company will demonstrate its current development status through live operation at its booth, while also showcasing new versions of HALCON, MERLIC, and Deep Learning Tool as well as the application of hardware accelerators in AI algorithms.
