en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 20, Honeywell Aerospace of the United States announced that its next-generation JetWave X broadband satellite communication terminal has officially entered service, supporting global airborne broadband communications with maximum download speeds of up to 300 megabits per second. The terminal targets the business aviation market and provides connectivity through Viasat's Ka-band satellite network, covering ViaSat-3 satellites and the former Inmarsat Global Xpress satellite system.

JetWave X adopts an open network architecture and supports both geostationary orbit and low Earth orbit satellite communication links. The system is equipped with data routing control software that can select communication links based on application requirements and maintain connection continuity through dual-link packet replication. For low-latency applications such as video conferencing, the system can route data to low Earth orbit satellite networks.

Viasat plans to integrate the capacity of Telesat's Lightspeed low Earth orbit satellite network into its JetXP aviation broadband service by the end of 2027. JetWave X currently supports the ViaSat-3 and Global Xpress satellite networks, and will subsequently leverage its multi-orbit communication architecture to access additional satellite capacity.

Honeywell stated that existing JetWave users upgrading to the new terminal can, in most cases, continue to use their existing Ka-band radomes and wiring, completing the upgrade through an equipment replacement program. Installation on specific aircraft types requires the corresponding supplemental type certificates, and Honeywell has included multiple business jet models from manufacturers such as Bombardier, Dassault, Gulfstream, and Embraer in its certification program.
