en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 25, construction officially began on the Chaozhou Chao'an to Raoping section of the Chaozhou–Nanchang Expressway (Fenghuangshan Expressway) in Guangdong Province, China. The project is being advanced by Guangdong Transportation Group, with a total investment of approximately RMB 6.308 billion. The route is about 38.26 kilometers long and is being built to a two-way, four-lane expressway standard with a design speed of 100 kilometers per hour. It is expected to be completed and open to traffic in 2030. The project is an important component of the G1535 Chaozhou–Nanchang Expressway in the national expressway network.

The Fenghuangshan Expressway starts in Wenci Town, Chao'an District, Chaozhou City, where the Dongtang hub interchange is set up to connect with the Ningbo–Dongguan Expressway. It extends eastward to Sanrao Town, Raoping County, where the Sanrao North hub interchange links with the Dachao Expressway and Provincial Road S222. The entire route is planned to include 3 interchanges, 1 service area, and 2 entrance/exit support facilities, with a bridge-to-tunnel ratio of 55.86%. The project is located in the mountainous area of eastern Guangdong, and its construction scope involves mountain bridges, long-gradient tunnels, and subgrade construction under complex terrain conditions.

In response to mountainous construction conditions, the project will adopt fully mechanized equipment for all tunnel processes and build an intelligent unmanned production line for steel arch production, achieving automated management from raw material processing to finished product manufacturing. For bridge works, drones equipped with LiDAR and visual sensing devices will be introduced to carry out high-altitude structural inspections and construction quality testing. For tunnel construction, integrated design of photovoltaic light-reduction canopies at entrances and exits and multi-energy low-carbon service facilities will also be studied.

Ecological protection along the route and construction organization have been incorporated into the construction plan simultaneously. The project is adjacent to the Fenghuangshan ecological protection area. A construction approach combining permanent and temporary access roads will be adopted, and tunnel spoil generated from excavation will be recycled and processed for use in producing crushed stone and manufactured sand. The planned Fenghuangshan Service Area will adopt a semi-open layout themed on Fenghuang Dancong tea culture, featuring a double-ground-floor service building, scenic view corridors, and zoned architectural spaces integrated with the surrounding tea garden terrain.
