Construction Begins on 48.22-Kilometer Expressway from Heyuan to Zijin in Guangdong, China

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 26, Guangdong Transportation Group announced that the Heyuan Zijin to Jiangdong New Area Expressway (referred to as the Hezi Expressway) has officially entered the construction phase. The project has a total investment of approximately 6.559 billion yuan, with a route length of 48.22 kilometers. It is designed as a two-way, four-lane expressway with a design speed of 100 kilometers per hour. The project starts at Huanghua Village, Zicheng Town, Zijin County, Heyuan City, connecting to National Highway G236, and ends at Nianfeng Village, Linjiang Town, Jiangdong New Area, connecting to National Highway G355. It is scheduled to be completed and open to traffic by the end of 2029.

The Hezi Expressway route generally runs east-west, passing through Huangtang Town and Bapu Town in Zijin County. Along the route, three interchanges are set up: Zicheng Hub, Huangtang Interchange, and Bapu Interchange, with supporting facilities including the Huangtang Service Area and management and maintenance facilities. The standard width of the mainline subgrade is 26.5 meters. An additional approximately 2.4-kilometer Bapu Interchange connecting line is provided, designed as a two-way, two-lane Class II highway with a design speed of 60 kilometers per hour.

According to the project construction bidding documents, the entire line plans to build 45 bridges with a total length of approximately 18.08 kilometers, including 1 extra-large bridge, 42 large bridges, and 2 medium bridges; additionally, 1 medium tunnel of 590 meters is provided, with a bridge-tunnel ratio of approximately 38.72%. The construction content covers subgrade and pavement, bridges and culverts, tunnels, interchanges, and traffic safety facilities. The civil construction X1 bid for the advance works has completed the bidding process, with China Railway 11th Bureau Group Co., Ltd. listed as the first candidate for winning the bid. The construction scope is the section from K22+635 to K27+100.

The project obtained approval for 8.4280 hectares of advance land use on September 9, involving control works such as the mainline subgrade, extra-large bridge, and medium tunnel. With the official entry into the construction phase on October 26, the Hezi Expressway will proceed with construction according to the arrangements for the advance works and subsequent main works. Upon completion, the project will connect Zijin County seat, towns along the route, and Heyuan Jiangdong New Area, with a planned travel time of approximately 40 minutes from Zijin County seat to Heyuan urban area.
