(Rainbow Heavy Industries) announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary Nantong Rainbow Offshore & Engineering Equipment Co., Ltd. (Rainbow Offshore) signed a "13,000 DWT Stainless Steel Chemical Tanker Shipbuilding Contract" with a European shipowner for the construction and delivery of 6 × 13,000 DWT stainless steel chemical tankers, including optional vessels. The total contract value is RMB 1.5 billion to 1.65 billion (approximately USD 225 million to 248 million), accounting for 21.91% to 24.10% of Rainbow Heavy Industries' audited operating revenue for 2025.

The announcement specifies that the contract will take effect once conditions including the buyer's payment of the first installment are satisfied, with deliveries commencing in batches from 28 months after effectiveness. The buyer will pay the vessel price in installments according to key shipbuilding milestones, and the contract takes effect once conditions including the builder's receipt of the buyer's first payment are satisfied. This payment structure directly links contract effectiveness to the receipt of the buyer's first installment of funds, rather than to the time of signature by both parties. The contract is also settled in foreign currency, and Rainbow Heavy Industries has flagged exchange rate risk.

The core technical configuration of this vessel type has been publicly documented on the same type of vessel previously built by Rainbow Offshore for Germany's Essberger, and the vessels under this contract follow the same design platform. The vessels meet Ice Class 1A navigation requirements and can accommodate transport needs in ice zones such as Northern Europe and the Baltic Sea, with operational coverage extending to routes subject to ice conditions.

The cargo tank system is designed for "multi-category, high-value-added" scenarios. The vessels are designed with 18 independent duplex stainless steel cargo tanks made of duplex stainless steel, offering corrosion resistance and low-temperature toughness, capable of safely transporting high-value-added chemicals such as benzene and alcohol compounds, and enabling multiple cargoes with different characteristics to be loaded on a single voyage. Public records for the same vessel type show a total tank capacity of approximately 15,200 cubic meters, with principal dimensions of 132 meters in length overall and 21.8 meters in breadth.

The vessels meet IMO Tier III emission standards and reserve installation space for methanol fuel power systems and sail-assisted propulsion systems to facilitate subsequent low-carbon upgrades; the same vessel type is also equipped with SCR systems, 6,600 V high-voltage shore power and shaft generators.
