US Launches Integrated Solar Pergola and Energy Storage Deck System
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 30, US outdoor energy company Outer Spaces launched the OS1 integrated solar pergola and energy storage deck system, which installs photovoltaic modules on the pergola roof and horizontally embeds lithium iron phosphate battery modules beneath the metal deck. The system features a modular design, with a PV installed capacity of approximately 2.5–5 kW and battery capacity expandable up to 62.64 kWh. Supply is planned to begin in 2027.

The OS1 uses Horizon BladePack lithium iron phosphate battery modules, each with a nominal capacity of 7.83 kWh, dimensions of 1470 mm × 368.6 mm × 125 mm, and a weight of approximately 72 kg, with up to 8 modules installable. The batteries are laid horizontally within the metal deck structure and covered above by outdoor paving to reduce the outdoor space occupied by energy storage equipment. The modules use passive cooling and are equipped with low-temperature heating, with a nominal operating temperature range of -20°C to 55°C; output power is derated above 40°C. The protection rating is IP67, and a 10-year limited warranty is provided.
The pergola is available in two base sizes, 12 ft × 12 ft and 12 ft × 24 ft, configured with 6 or 12 PV modules respectively, corresponding to approximately 2.5 kW or 5 kW of PV installed capacity. PV power is connected via DC lines to the system's power conversion and distribution equipment, paired with a Fox ESS H1-11.4-US hybrid inverter and 12 kW OS1 DC hub equipment. The system also supports AC coupling with existing PV installations, and energy storage capacity can be expanded according to residential electricity demand.
The OS1 supports self-consumption, time-of-use tariff operation, and backup power modes, and is equipped with virtual power plant readiness and PV black-start capability. The system can use PV generation during the day and store electricity in the battery modules beneath the deck, providing backup power when electricity demand increases or the home loses power; if a generator is to be connected, a Fox ESS Hub G2 is required.
The pergola uses prefabricated modular components, paired with a ground anchoring system and snap-fit deck structure, aimed at reducing traditional construction steps such as excavation, concrete pouring, and on-site wood cutting. The product allows adjustment of roof coverage, side walls, and deck area to suit different outdoor space requirements. Final connection of the system to the residential electrical distribution equipment still requires a licensed electrician.
Outer Spaces announced the launch of the OS1 on October 6, 2026, and disclosed the completion of $8 million in pre-seed financing, with investors including Upfront Ventures, Unlock Venture Partners, Mucker Capital, and Genius Ventures. The company plans to begin supplying the product in 2027 and has not yet announced pricing.
