en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 30, Ningbo Ocean Shipping Co., Ltd. disclosed that it plans to add 8 newbuildings through long-term leasing, including 4 7,000 TEU container ships, 2 14,000 TEU container ships and 2 7,000 CEU ro-ro ships, each with a lease term of no more than 20 years and a total charter hire cap of RMB 10.3 billion.

The 8 ships to be leased fall into three categories. Among them, the total charter hire cap for the 4 7,000 TEU container ships is RMB 3.9 billion, that for the 2 14,000 TEU container ships is RMB 4 billion, and that for the 2 7,000 CEU ro-ro ships is RMB 2.4 billion. The combined charter hire cap for the three categories totals RMB 10.3 billion.

All the above ships are newbuildings, to be purchased and owned by non-related financial leasing companies, with Ningbo Ocean Shipping or its subsidiaries acquiring the right of use through long-term leasing. The total charter hire includes rent payable during the lease term and any possible purchase price upon expiry of the lease, and is not the amount of the shipbuilding contracts.

The 7,000 TEU container ships are mainly suited for near-sea and medium-range transport, the 14,000 TEU container ships are intended for large ocean-going trunk line transport and slot cooperation business, and the 7,000 CEU ro-ro ships are used for automobile export transport. This leasing plan will simultaneously increase capacity in medium and large container ships and car carriers.

This plan to lease 8 ships is a further expansion based on the previous leasing plan for 2 7,000 CEU ro-ro ships. Ningbo Ocean Shipping had previously approved the leasing of those 2 ro-ro ships at its shareholders' meeting on October 26, 2026. If the new plan is ultimately approved, the ships involved in the two plans will total 10, including 6 container ships and 4 ro-ro ships.

According to the board resolution disclosed on October 30, 2026, the proposal to lease the 8 additional ships was reviewed and approved at the 28th meeting of the company's second board of directors on October 28, and is scheduled to be submitted to the fourth extraordinary shareholders' meeting of 2026 for review on November 17.
