en.Wedoany.com Reported - On November 2, U.S. offshore oilfield services company Hornbeck Offshore Services signed multiple deepwater well intervention and offshore support services agreements with Shell Offshore Inc. for operations in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. The contracts cover riser-based well intervention, riserless well intervention and stimulation support, and offshore transportation services. Among them, the contracts for the well intervention vessel and associated support vessels have a term of 5 years, with related operations scheduled to commence in 2027.

Under the contract arrangements, Hornbeck will deploy a specialized intervention vessel with riser-based downhole intervention capability, equipped with an intervention riser system (IRS) and remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), and will provide project management and engineering services. The vessel will undertake deepwater well intervention tasks, with the associated equipment used to establish downhole access and conduct subsea support operations.

The second group of vessel resources includes a high-specification multi-purpose support vessel (MPSV) equipped with ROVs, with Hornbeck providing engineering design and project management services. In addition, the company plans to deploy deepwater platform supply vessels (OSVs) compliant with the U.S. Jones Act to provide offshore logistics and operational support for the well intervention vessel and the multi-purpose support vessel.

The agreements cover multiple deepwater service categories, and Hornbeck will execute the contracts by combining well intervention, subsea robotics operations, and offshore transportation capabilities. The company completed its merger with Helix Energy Solutions Group on September 1, 2026, and the combined business includes a deepwater well intervention vessel fleet, subsea remotely operated systems, and offshore supply vessels.
