Western Gold of Canada Intersects 3.9-Metre Mineralized Interval at Scottish Gold Project
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On November 2, Canadian mining company Western Gold Exploration released the results of the first round of diamond drilling at its Caledonian Gold Project in Scotland, UK. Hole GLDD26_004, located on the Coire a'Ghabhalach (CaG) vein, intersected a 3.9-metre gold-silver-lead-zinc mineralized interval from 86 metres depth, grading 7.17 g/t gold, 27.8 g/t silver, 6.51% lead and 2.10% zinc, including a 0.5-metre high-grade subinterval grading 42.8 g/t gold.

The high-grade subinterval in hole GLDD26_004 lies at 88.6 to 89.1 metres depth, grading 141 g/t silver, 9.1% lead and 12.1% zinc. The hole was completed at 200.7 metres depth, and the mineralized interval also includes a 2.9-metre section grading 9.60 g/t gold, indicating localized enrichment of gold, silver and base metals.
A total of 4 diamond holes totalling 667 metres were completed on the CaG vein, all of which intersected gold-bearing vein structures. Among them, hole GLDD26_001 intersected a 3.3-metre mineralized interval from 94.7 metres depth grading 1.15 g/t gold, including a 1.7-metre section grading 1.76 g/t gold; hole GLDD26_002 intersected a 2-metre mineralized interval from 131.5 metres depth grading 0.79 g/t gold; and hole GLDD26_003 intersected a 1-metre mineralized interval from 89 metres depth grading 0.41 g/t gold.
Western Gold has completed the first round of approximately 1,260 metres of drilling in the Lyon area of the Caledonian Gold Project, for a total of 7 holes. In addition to the 4 holes on the CaG vein, the other 3 holes are located at the Creag Sheileach exploration target, with assay results still pending. The project is held by Western Gold and Acrux Gold through the Glen Lyon joint venture, with interests of 90% and 10% respectively, and Western Gold serves as operator.
Based on the available drill data, the company preliminarily interprets the CaG vein as either a single bifurcating vein system or two parallel veins, and the mineralized structure remains open along strike and down dip. The identified veins and host-rock alteration zones extend at least 180 metres along strike. The company is evaluating ground induced polarization geophysical surveys and an expanded soil sampling grid to define targets for the next phase of drilling.
Drilling was carried out by Mineral Exploration Drilling Ltd, and drill core was sent to ALS laboratories in Ireland for analysis, with gold determined by 30-gram fire assay and silver and base metals analyzed by four-acid digestion with ICP-MS. The company estimates that the true thickness of the mineralized intervals in this round is approximately 70% to 80% of the downhole intersection lengths, but the specific orebody geometry still requires confirmation by follow-up drilling.
