en.Wedoany.com Reported - On November 5, German industrial electrolysis technology company thyssenkrupp nucera announced that it had completed the commissioning and startup of the chlor-alkali production facility of India's Kutch Chemical Industries in Padana, Gujarat. The facility is designed with an annual caustic soda capacity of 220,000 tons and a maximum daily production capacity of 675 tons calculated as 100% sodium hydroxide. It adopts thyssenkrupp nucera's latest-generation BM Generation 6+ electrolysis technology and is one of the larger single-train chlor-alkali production facilities in India.

The new facility is equipped with 5 BM Generation 6+ electrolyzers, each with a designed maximum caustic soda production capacity of 135 tons per day. According to data published by the technology supplier, the per-unit capacity of this electrolyzer model reaches the highest level among comparable electrolyzers currently installed in India. All 5 electrolyzers have been successfully started up and constitute the core production system for this commissioning.

thyssenkrupp nucera was responsible for the engineering and technical services, proprietary electrolysis technology and equipment supply for the project, and participated in the startup and commissioning of the facility. The project adopts its latest membrane electrolysis system, with Kutch Chemical responsible for subsequent production operations. This commissioning completes the phase transition of the new electrolysis equipment from engineering installation and startup commissioning to actual operation.

The caustic soda and chlorine produced by the facility will be used respectively in Kutch Chemical's existing chemical production processes and sold in the Indian domestic market. The company operates an integrated chemical production base in Gujarat, involving chlorination, nitration and dye intermediate production businesses. The newly added chlor-alkali production facility will be integrated with the existing chemical production system at the base, providing production capacity for its internal chemical raw material supply and external sales.
