en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 28, Tata Projects of India was awarded an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract by Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals Limited (GSFC) for an integrated phosphoric acid–sulfuric acid plant. The project is located in Sikka, Jamnagar District, Gujarat, India, and includes a 600 t/d phosphoric acid unit and an 1,800 t/d sulfuric acid unit, along with supporting utilities and offsite infrastructure, with a combined design capacity of 2,400 t/d for the two units.

Under the contract, Tata Projects is responsible for the engineering design, equipment procurement, and construction of the two acid production facilities, as well as coordination of the engineering interfaces between the process units and the utilities and offsite supporting facilities, and specialized coordination work during the construction and commissioning phases.

The two acid plants will be integrated into GSFC's Sikka production base, and the phosphoric acid and sulfuric acid produced will be used primarily to meet the company's raw material needs for phosphate fertilizer production. GSFC had previously selected technology suppliers, with the phosphoric acid unit using technology from Tunisian engineering firm TECI and the sulfuric acid unit adopting the technology solution of Canada's Chemetics, while Projects & Development India Limited (PDIL) serves as project management consultant.

On October 13, 2026, the GSFC board approved the construction of the two acid production units at the Sikka base, and on October 14 submitted supplementary information on project capacity and supporting facilities to the Indian stock exchanges. With Tata Projects now securing the EPC contract, the project has moved from the preliminary investment approval and contractor selection stage into the EPC implementation arrangement.
